tsukareta...
today`s orientation session is finally over... met kondo sensei... he came to usm penang a month ago... teaching intercultural communication... he actually recognised me... hahahah! okay...
gonna open a bank account later next week, got my inkan ready, a copy of the information page of my alien registration card application... gonna go to the local ward office to get my japanese national health insurance thingy settled... i have got a long list of to do things in my head right now... it is still rather early right now so i thought i post another blog today...
okay, back to my first 4days in japan. the weather is really, extremely hot right now. it is around 34 degrees in nagoya! somewhat like the weather in kuala lumpur... havent been to downtown sakae yet... will go check that place out definitely... heard it is really crowded and happenin... hahahah. oh ya, got an e-mail from kimie-san, will meet up with her soon, i hope!
typhoon is really bad in osaka, i wonder how is grace woo doing there... we were also told to be prepared for the tokai earthquake... they have predicted that it may come anytime soon, and it is going to cause a real catastrophe out of us, foreigner, or better known as `gaijin`... hahah! okay, lets not talk about weather... there has to be much more interesting things right?
oh ya, and another things is that did you guys notice that somehow the words shown in the blog are a lil strange... this is coz i dont know how to use the japanese keyboard lah... didnt realise that there would be such a difference of the keyboard used here in japan... so, kind of understand what meiyee is going through with hers in finland, the european keyboard... hahhaah...
my fan just broke down last night... gonna inform my concierge kojima-san as soon as possible... cant survive without a fan lah... wish we had airconditioned rooms... i know i know, pampered lass! so what? gonna sue me for that? heheh!
ahh, nanzan university actually has a policy against sexual harrassment... interesting! with a special committee and a support group as well! usm should have that too ya know. okay, nanzan uni is a really old uni lah. with old buildings and all... situated on top of a hill, very much like usm, with trees and fountains, gardens and parks, the library looked small... around 5cafeterias... mc donalds, kinokuniya bookstore, yayayay! swimming pool, tennis court, gymnasium, and we went for a tour round the uni yesterday. saw students practicing kendo, judo and even a street hip-hop dance... cool huh? i will try to post some pictures if possible, will try to get myself connected using my own pc... somehow easier for me to get things done lah... without having to figure out where the buttons are, where is the apostrophe... where is the underscore... blah blah blah... you guys get what i mean?
subways.... they are a nightmare... here, there, and everywhere... exit #1, #2... #6... north, south, east, west... tsurumai line, meijo line, sakuradori line... arghhhhhh.... ticket vending machine, commuter pass vending machine, fare adjustment machines... cigarettes vending machine... you name it, japan has it. and mind ya, this is only nagoya... it took us around 40minutes from my residence to the uni... thereafter, followed by a 15minutes walk... thanks to the classes held at pusat bahasa usm, i can now boast of my `speed` of brisk walking... somehow the others are kinda `lembab` lah, especially those girls from taiwan and thailand... hahahah!
we were advised not to stay in the uni till late at night coz japan is no longer as safe as before... students were mugged within walking distance from the uni... were strucked on the head, left unconscious for 4 hours... okay, okay, the moral of the story is never walk alone, dont be at the wrong place at the wrong hours... yeah mom... dont worry...
talk about food... finally huh?... well, their food is really bland! even their curry is like our `ching tang`... get what i mean... well japanese eat a lot of rice, to be more precise, short-grain rice... they have rice almost every meal of the day... so, you must be wondering what have i been eating for the past days huh? okay... hamburger served with rice, grilled chicken served with rice, miso soup, salad, kare-don (rice served with pork curry poured all over :p), bread n cheese, bananas, chocolates, chips... etc etc... nothin much... must try unagi (eel)... yikes, i wonder how does it taste like...
things are rather expensive here... a meal would cost around 400yen, on the average... and this is the cafeteria in campus lah! so usually students would make their own bento, or lunch box and bring it with em to uni... save kind of a lot on a monthly basis... well, what to do? i discovered that those milo instant mix dad `forced` me to bring came in real handy... arghhh, miss milo so much... somehow it has the scent, or fragrance, or rather the `taste` of home... hahahah!
gonna call up the church and find out bout the exact location... cant wait to go to church this sunday... that is if there is no typhoon warnings or whatsoever warnings lah... tsunami? who knows... well, our lord has got the whole world in his hands... amen!
so... do feel free to drop me a message or a comment... till then, hang loose, relax, watch out for typhoons... love, szehwei...
